Black Mirror Creator Collaborates with ChatGPT for a Lackluster Episode: No Original Thought Present

Date:

Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker recently experimented with artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT to write an episode for his popular series. However, the outcome was far from impressive and Brooker labelled it as shit. According to him, ChatGPT simply combined all the previous synopses of Black Mirror episodes without generating any original thought. Despite the failure, Brooker found the experiment useful as it helped him identify some of the cliches in his previous episodes.
Black Mirror is set to launch its sixth season, featuring five new episodes with an all-star cast including Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Michael Cera, Kate Mara, and Zazie Beetz, among others. Brooker has also managed to rope in Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, and Aaron Paul for an episode called Beyond the Sea, which is set in an alternative 1969 and follows two men on a perilous high-tech mission. Brooker was initially inspired by the plot and then decided to set it in the turbulent late 60s, which added to the intrigue and fun of it. However, Brooker mentioned that it was tricky creating characters that behave and think in line with the specific era they come from.
The sixth season promises to be as thought-provoking and gripping as the previous ones, without falling into the trap of cliches or nostalgia. While Brooker is not entirely convinced about the use of artificial intelligence in his show, he has nevertheless experimented with ChatGPT for inspiration. Fans will eagerly await the debut of the upcoming season of Black Mirror and see whether the series will deliver on its promise of breaking its own rules.
