Billionaire OpenAI CEO Uses UberX for Efficient City Commutes

Date:

OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, has been caught using UberX to commute around town, despite possessing an impressive car collection. Altman is known for valuing time efficiency, which is why he tends to lean towards UberX, which is less expensive than other options offered by Uber Technologies Inc. Altman’s choice of transportation also highlights the ease and convenience that Uber offers. In a blog post from 2014, Altman compared the costs of owning a car with that of using Uber, clearly weighing on the side of the latter. Altman and a group of others, including Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, created OpenAI in 2015. The company operated as a non-profit initially but become a for-profit enterprise in 2019. OpenAI made headlines in 2020 with its GPT-3 language model, which uses data sets from the internet to generate content. The company also gave birth to a commercial-focused API, which paved the way for the sensational ChatGPT model, the most-used generative AI tool. The company’s DALL-E learning model launched in 2021, opening up new ground for virtual artwork and image generating using language. With the company’s many feats, Microsoft Corp. invested $10 billion in OpenAI in January, sparking renewed interest in generative AI models.
