Stability AI, a generative AI company, has just released the beta version of Stable Diffusion XL (SDXL), their latest image generation model. This model is designed to provide enterprises with a richer image generation experience, allowing for enhanced photorealism and improved features like image-to-image prompting and inpainting.
The new model is able to produce more detailed imagery and composition, including photographic realism, boosted image composition, the ability to generate facial features, and clear text output. SDXL is only being made available in the company’s API and DreamStudio packages designed for enterprise use; this is because Stability AI wants to get feedback from their customers before they make it available on the open source network. It has 2.3 billion parameters as compared to previous models that had 900 million.
Stability AI seems to be on its way up in the marketplace since the open release of Stable Diffusion last August. In addition to the SDXL beta, they released the predecessor, Stable Diffusion 2.1, and staged the launch of their 3.0 model. Despite their success, the company has come under legal fire for the potential copyright infringement of artwork used to train their models. To address this, just last December they worked with the organization Spawning to build tools that allowed artists to opt-out of model training. This, however, hasn’t stopped lawsuits over the use of training data.
As of now, the company seeks to increase its revenue and burn through its cash. But, whatever the case may be, CEO Emad Mostaque suggested that the company might go public, though there has been no confirmation of it. On July 11-12, top executives and leaders will go to San Francisco to learn how to integrate and optimize AI investments for success.
Stability AI was founded in 2019 by CEO Emad Mostaque, who is an expert in the field of generative AI with extensive experience in technology and business management. Mostaque is an Army Intelligence Officer, who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is also a graduate from Harvard. Under his leadership, the company has gone from strength to strength and continues to be a groundbreaking presence in the AI market.
