On April 12, Chinese tech giant Alibaba unveiled its version of the revolutionary AI service ChatGPT. Tongyi Qianwen, a large language model developed by the company, is going to be embedded in its Tmall Genie smart speakers and workplace messaging platform DingTalk. This technology is expected to generate instant responses to user inquiries by being trained on detailed data. Ultimately, it will be integrated into all Alibaba applications from e-commerce solutions to mapping services.
At a conference in Beijing, Alibaba’s Group CEO, Daniel Zhang, presented Tongyi Qianwen and how it can transcribe meeting notes, craft business pitches, and tell children’s stories. Additionally, the company opened up the capabilities of the AI for enterprise customers to test before officially rolling it out for more users. Zhang stated, “We are at a technological watershed moment, driven by generative AI and cloud computing.” Meanwhile, the enterprise software of Alibaba’s cloud division enables clients to build their own large language models.
