Chinese tech giant Alibaba today rolled out Tongyi Qianwen, its answer to the popular ChatGPT language model, at its Cloud Summit in Beijing. Daniel Zhang, the company’s CEO, announced that they plan to embed the AI-based model into all of its products in the near future. Starting with the company’s workplace messaging app ‘DingTalk,’ the model will make it easier for users to write emails and summarize meeting notes. Additionally, it will also be available on Abbott’s voice assistant, Tmall Genie.
This is yet another indication of Chinese tech companies’ race to use AI for their products, with competition from Baidu and SenseTime. To assist businesses, Alibaba offers Tongyi Qianwen on its cloud services, similar to Baidu’s platform called Wenxin Qianfan.
