AI-Driven Instagram Reels Increase User Engagement by 24%: Mark Zuckerberg

Since its launch of the AI-driven short-video app Reels, Instagram has seen a skyrocket in its engagement rate. CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that this rise in time spent was a 24 per cent increase on Instagram. The AI also has improved monetization and Reels’ efficiency has increased by 40 per cent on Facebook quarter over quarter. As well, Reels are reshared more than two billion times a day, a tremendous twofold increase over the past half-year.

Facebook and Instagram are using AI to recommend content from people, groups, or accounts that you don’t follow. Those recommended posts make up 40% of the content that appears on Instagram. Moreover, additional features, such as dedicated trending audio, two new metrics for Reels insights, and gifts on Reels in more countries, have been added.

The company behind Reels, Meta, continues to innovate and add value to the app. Now, with Total Watch Time and Average Watch Time metrics, creators have insight into how many people watch their Reels and how long they watch it.

Mark Zuckerberg and his team at Meta have done an impressive job of optimizing Instagram and Facebook experience with the help of AI and have proved the beneficial impact of Reels. Now the question remains to be seen, what’s the next big thing they roll out.
