Veteran bodybuilder Roy Callender is combining personal fitness with artificial intelligence in a new workout app called RC3. Developed with co-founder Carlos Benfeito, the AI technology recognizes and analyses a user’s workout movements and provides real-time feedback that can help with posture and technique.
RC3 is free to download, but will eventually cost $50 per month. Roy believes that the app is able to step into the role of a personal trainer. When users make mistakes or need help with certain exercises, Roy will receive a notification, allowing him to give feedback and post it on the client’s program page.
Callender was a top bodybuilder in the 1970s and early 80s, becoming Mr. Canada in 1977 and finishing third in Mr. Olympia the following year. He trained with iconic bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger in London, where he picked up his desire for bodybuilding. Now 78-year-old, Roy is excited to share his skills and knowledge with the fitness community.
RC3 is an app developed by BodyReach, a Toronto-based AI fitness startup that creates technology-enabled workouts. BodyReach understands the need to be agile and make their technology easily accessible to users. In addition to RC3, they have launched other features such as the option to join a Group Fitness class with the click of a button.
Roy Callender started out in bodybuilding in the 1970s and gained a reputation as a competitive bodybuilder in Canada. After his third-place finish in the Mr Olympia competition, he spent a lot of time training with Arnold Schwarzenegger, picking up the motivation and drive to continue in his career. Now elderly, it is impressive to see how his drive and passion to help others has shifted from the gym to the app store.
