Recent Advancements in Machine Learning for Scientific Computing advances knowledge in computational mathematics and deep learning for scientists employed in multiple disciplines. Recent breakthroughs in deep learning and scientific computing have enabled wide-scale applications for deep neural networks. Youngjoon Hong was recently appointed an associate professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences at KAIST and is providing a lecture discussing the interrelationship between applied mathematics and deep learning models, with a focus on topics such as generative models in computational materials and scientific machine learning for problem-solving techniques.
Youngjoon Hong is a specialized expert in the field of mathematics and scientific computing, and has received his Ph.D. in mathematics with a minor in scientific computing from Indiana University in 2015. As a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2015-2018, he has conducted comprehensive research on topics that have inspired his Ph.D. thesis. Subsequently, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at San Diego State University from 2018-2021, Youngjoon has been able to expand his research and teaching capabilities to reach out to a wider audience.
Sungkyunkwan University, a leading university based in South Korea is spearheading the push for stronger research capabilities in the field of mathematics and engineering. Through its curriculum, the university works to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various application areas of mathematics and engineering and the various technologies used across different disciplines. These include artificial intelligence, big data analytics, blockchain technology, machine learning, robotics, quantum computing, and much more. At Sungkyunkwan University, Youngjoon Hong continues to research a variety of topics related to computational mathematics and machine learning. It is through his hard work and passion that the future of science and technology is being changed for the better.
