Elon Musk has announced plans to create a rival to the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, currently backed by Microsoft Corp. During an interview with Tucker Carlson on Monday, Musk confirmed his plans for a third option in the AI race between OpenAI, owned by Microsoft, and Alphabet’s Google and DeepMind.
To make his ambitions a reality, Musk established a new artificial intelligence company in Nevada called X.AI this March. Furthermore, he signed an open letter with various tech luminaries advocating a six-month pause to the development and training of advanced AI models.
In the same interview, Musk expressed his worries on the influence that Microsoft has over OpenAI, as well as the company’s transition from a not-for-profit operation. Additionally, he is concerned about chatbots becoming too politically correct and for his AI company to be focused on seeking the truth and understanding the nature of the universe.
In other news related to Musk, he recently took Twitter private and incorporated them into his company X Corp. As an element of this process, he significantly lowered the evaluation of the company, a move that The Information recently reported on.
To help realize his vision of an AI rival to Microsoft and Google, Musk established the company X.AI as a channel for his aspirations. With its roots in Nevada, the firm is positioned to take on Microsoft and Google’s dominance in the AI sector. He has also taken action to pause the development and training of advanced AI models by advocating and signing an open letter with various tech luminaries. This could be the start of a new journey towards the destruction of the ChatGPT monopoly.
