Standing Out in Millennium Management’s Miami Engineering Recruiting Program and the City’s Growing Tech Hub Role

Date:

Olga Naumovich has an exciting challenge ahead of her: to take on the role of leading tech efforts in Miami for hedge fund Millennium Management. It’s a significant commitment to the city as it reaps the benefits of Wall Street’s expanding presence in Florida–which Naumovich is both literally and figuratively voting for, by relocating her family to the sunshine state with her.

On Monday, Naumovich launched a new engineering recruitment program called LEaD (Learning, Engineering and Data) that is designed to encourage experienced engineers–with two to five years of knowledge–to work at Millennium. Accepted applicants are considered full-time employees, and the program is a 12-18 rotation that allows them to understand the complexities of working at a fast-paced financial firm. It consists of spending time in the firm’s four tech divisions: equities tech, fixed income, commodities, and risk tech, middle office, and corporate tech and infrastructure tech. The program is intended to teach a combination of tech-based skills, in addition to providing an opportunity to improve managerial and presentation abilities.

Millennium management is a $58 billion hedge fund which is made of veteran finance experts based in Miami, New York, London, Bengaluru, Dublin, and Tel Aviv. The firm is determined to make Miami a key tech hub and is expanding their presence with a brand new office that is set to open by the end of the year. It will feature plenty of whiteboards and stunning views of the Atlantic.

The recruitment program and attractive new office, in addition to Miami’s established finance presence and talented workforce, will all make it easier for Millenium Managemen to hire and retain the best engineers. Ideal candidates will be those with a deep understanding of technology and passion for learning, along with a willingness to collaborate, experiment with new technologies, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

Naumovich is optimistic that the new recruitment program and Miami’s reputation will be attractive to local and out-of-state engineers. According to a recent job posting for a Miami-based engineer with 8+ years’ experience, the base compensation is between $175,000 to $250,000 annually.

Overall, Millennium’s ambitious plans in Miami further solidifies the city’s status as a leading technology and finance hub. By leveraging the advantages of the location, talented workforce and the effective recruitment process, the firm will hopefully be successful in their mission to expand their presence in the city.
