Huawei Thailand has launched the 2023 edition of its Seeds for the Future program, which focuses on digital education. The program aims to equip 20 outstanding students from Thailand with cutting-edge digital skills, essential leadership capabilities, and a diverse cross-cultural experience. The participants will also collaborate on startup projects aligned with the Tech4Good campaign.
The program launch event was attended by esteemed Thai government officials, representatives, and students from universities. The event emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in nurturing the region’s digital talent ecosystem. It also highlighted the program’s role in raising awareness about the ICT sector, fostering local talent development, and promoting digital community building.
Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President and CEO of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), expressed his excitement about the collaboration between Huawei and depa in the Seeds for the Future program. He believed that the program would enhance students with extraordinary potential and contribute to the development of Thailand’s digital ecosystem. He highlighted Huawei’s knowledge and expertise in enhancing the country’s digital workforce’s capability and the competitiveness of the Thai digital economy on a global scale.
Mr. David Li, CEO of Huawei Thailand, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to talent cultivation through technology and innovation. He described Seeds for the Future as a pivotal platform that selects promising young talents worldwide and provides them with rigorous ICT training. The program has benefited over 15,000 students from 500+ universities across 140 countries and regions, empowering them with diverse skills for their digital growth and inspiring them to shape the future.
Scheduled to run from August 21 to 29, Seeds for the Future 2023 will feature distinguished industry experts who will impart knowledge about cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, AI, and cloud computing. The participants will also have opportunities for personal growth and cultural immersion through visits to Huawei’s Ecosystem Innovation Center and a Chinese culture experience course. The program will culminate in the students collaborating on teams to develop their own startup projects under the Tech4Good campaign, sharing innovative ideas to create a more digitally advanced world.
To elevate the program’s educational quality, Huawei has introduced several enhancements for the 2023 iteration. These include the provision of an on-site teaching assistant and Tech4Good mentor for continuous support to the students. Upon completing the mandatory Seeds Academy courses, the graduating students will earn program certificates. They will also become part of the Seed alumni network, facilitating connections with fellow alumni and mentors.
Following the country-level program, the top 5 students with the best performance will be selected to represent Thailand in the regional Seeds tour in China. During this phase, the students will visit Huawei’s Headquarters in Shenzhen and R&D Center in Shanghai, and participate in the global Tech4Good competition. Huawei Thailand has pledged to connect the winning teams with venture capital investors to support and incubate their creative ideas and help them expand their innovations to an international level.
