OpenAI’s ChatGPT app is now available for Android users in India, the United States, Bangladesh, and Brazil, according to a recent announcement by the parent company. The launch on Google PlayStore comes after the successful release of the iOS version earlier this year. ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot that has gained immense popularity among millennials and Gen Z since its introduction in November 2020.
To download ChatGPT on their Android devices, users can simply visit the Google PlayStore and search for the app. Upon installation, users are required to log in using their email ID. The app, which is free to use, allows users to synchronize their chat history across multiple devices and receive the latest model improvements from OpenAI.
While using the app, users are cautioned to be mindful of sharing sensitive information, as chats may be reviewed by OpenAI’s AI trainers for system improvement purposes. ChatGPT also provides control over users’ chat history, allowing them to decide whether new chats appear in their history and contribute to system enhancements.
Moreover, the app acknowledges that there may be instances where ChatGPT provides inaccurate information about people, places, and facts. This serves as a reminder to users to exercise caution and verify information from reliable sources.
OpenAI has also revealed plans to introduce a subscription plan for ChatGPT in India soon. The subscription, known as ChatGPT Plus, offers access to the GPT-4 model, unlimited questions and answers, as well as a higher word limit for both.
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft recently invested billions of dollars in the parent company of ChatGPT, OpenAI, to commercialize advanced AI technologies across its consumer and enterprise products. This forms part of the long-term partnership between the two companies and aims to further enhance AI research and development.
However, the Indian government has expressed concerns regarding AI language-based models like ChatGPT due to potential misuse by scammers targeting individuals and organizations. They caution that such applications can generate fake news, scams, misinformation, phishing messages, and deep fake texts.
OpenAI continues to expand the availability of ChatGPT, aiming to make the app accessible to users in various countries worldwide. With its conversational AI capabilities, ChatGPT has quickly gained popularity as a versatile and engaging chatbot assistant.
