Microsoft to Discontinue Support for Cortana on Windows Later This Year

Date:

Microsoft has announced it will be ending support for its virtual assistant, Cortana, on Windows later this year. Cortana has been a staple feature on Windows PCs since its launch in 2015 and was designed to help users manage their daily tasks using voice commands. However, Microsoft has gradually been phasing out the virtual assistant from the Windows experience, especially following the launch of Windows 11. Instead, Microsoft has introduced a new AI-powered tool called Windows Copilot, which offers similar capabilities to Cortana and is set to replace it. Despite this move, Cortana will still be available via the Outlook mobile app and on the Harman Kardon Invoke speaker.

Microsoft is one of the world’s largest technology companies, specializing in software development, consumer electronics, and computer services. The company was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen and is now headed by CEO Satya Nadella. Its flagship product, the Windows operating system, is used by millions of people worldwide.

Cortana is a virtual assistant created by Microsoft for its Windows operating system. It was named after an AI character in the popular video game series, Halo, also developed by Microsoft. Cortana was designed to help users with tasks such as setting reminders, searching the internet, and managing their calendars. It can also be used to control smart home devices and answer questions via voice commands. While its features will no longer be available on Windows, Cortana can still be accessed via the Outlook mobile app and the Harman Kardon Invoke speaker.
