The latest Marvel movie to be hit by the Writers’ Guild of America (WGA) strike is Thunderbolts. The strike action taken by the union at the start of this month is in a bid to ensure pay increases in an age when streaming services reign supreme. This stand taken by the union also includes regulations on implementing generative Artificial Intelligence into writer’s rooms.
The writer’s strike removed any progress that had been made on Blade, the reboot of the original Venom starring Mahershala Ali and due to be released in September 2024. The shutdown of this major film is just one of the many effects of the strike, and Marvel television programmes Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man have similarly been stalled due to the strike.
