As Oman prepares for the tenth term of the Majlis Ash’shura elections, the engagement and accessibility of voters are being intensified. A total of 883 candidates, including 33 women, are running for the council seats, aiming to serve for the next four years.
To encourage citizen participation in the electoral process, the Ministry of Interior has launched a media campaign and urged people to use electronic applications for easier voter registration and to stay connected with all updates related to the Majlis Ash’shura elections.
In order to ensure that people with special needs can vote easily and without hassle, additional facilities have been provided. The ‘Antukhib’ mobile application has been introduced, emphasizing the importance of enabling people with disabilities to participate in the elections.
Furthermore, another application called ‘Intekhaab’ has been developed to facilitate discussions among citizens, officials, and specialists. This platform allows voters to study the opinions and proposals put forth by the candidates and to familiarize themselves with their profiles before casting their votes.
The Department of Election at the Ministry of Interior is working tirelessly to ensure a fair and transparent election. Utilizing artificial intelligence and digital media, they aim to provide a fruitful election experience for all.
The voting process will be conducted electronically. The ‘Intekhaab’ mobile application offers a range of electoral services, including access to the lists of candidates and voters, verification of registered voters, and real-time updates on the counting process on the day of the election. Users can also provide feedback and suggestions through the application.
One of the key features of the application is the ‘Safhatee’ (My Page) section, which serves as a platform for community participation and discussion. This feature enables users to express their opinions, engage in discussions with specialists and trainers, and raise any concerns or questions related to the electoral process.
In addition to the mobile application, the Ministry has introduced the ‘Safhatee’ service through the election website, ‘elections.om’. This service allows candidates to promote their electoral campaigns for the tenth term of the Majlis Ash’shura elections, facilitating direct communication and interaction with voters from the same constituency.
Malik al Hinai from the Department of Election highlighted the significance of the ‘Antukhib’ application in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the voting process. Through the use of artificial intelligence, this mobile application verifies the voter’s data by scanning the ID card and comparing it with the personal photo provided. This enhances the safety, security, and transparency of the electoral process.
Overall, the preparations for the Majlis Ash’shura elections in Oman are focused on enhancing voter engagement and accessibility. Through the use of digital applications and platforms, citizens are encouraged to actively participate in the electoral process, stay informed about the candidates, and exercise their right to vote.
