The 17th Annual Global Healthcare Summit (GHS) organized by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has kicked off in New Delhi and Manipal with a focus on the Cutting Edge in Healthcare and Artificial Intelligence. This year, the summit is being held in collaboration with prestigious institutions like the All India Medical Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), extending the reach and impact of the event.
For the first time ever, the summit is taking place in two cities to provide delegates from the United States with a unique perspective and experience of India from both North and South regions. AAPI President Dr. Anjana Samadder emphasized the importance of this dual-city approach in her welcome address.
The first part of the summit is being held at the Le Meridien Hotel in New Delhi from January 1-3, while the second part will take place at the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, MAHE from January 4-6. These collaborations with esteemed institutions and the state government aim to foster knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the forging of meaningful partnerships in cutting-edge research and breakthroughs in medical education.
The annual GHS has been instrumental in transforming healthcare delivery in India, benefiting the country’s 1.4 billion people living in congested urban centers and remote regions. With the rapidly changing healthcare landscape, this year’s summit focuses on exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on medicine and healthcare in the 21st century.
During the summit, a diverse range of leaders from medical regulatory organizations in India, the United Kingdom, and the United States are participating to address the challenges and opportunities in medical education. The introduction of licensing examinations like the NEXT examination in India, similar to USMLE in the US, and the upcoming UKMLE in the UK reflects the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and transfer of medical knowledge.
In a groundbreaking partnership, AAPI has joined forces with CLIRNET, India’s leading digital healthcare platform, to establish a Mentorship & Observership program. This initiative will enable Indian doctors to learn from experienced AAPI physicians and apply for observerships in the USA across various medical specialties. The program aims to facilitate interactive sessions, webinars, and forums that foster collaborative learning and the exchange of medical knowledge to address healthcare challenges.
AAPI’s commitment to training approximately 200,000 physicians in the coming year demonstrates its dedication to making quality healthcare affordable and accessible to all the people of India. By focusing on general medicine and various specialties, the organization seeks to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the country.
The 17th Annual Global Healthcare Summit serves as a powerful platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the establishment of meaningful partnerships. With a balanced view that incorporates different perspectives and expertise from around the world, the summit is driving innovation and advancements in healthcare for the benefit of all.
