17 Arrested in California Following Shootings within Sikh Community

Date:

Seventeen people, including the master mind, Pavittar Preet Singh, have been arrested by the Northern California police force for a series of shootings within the Sikh community. Along with the arrests, a tremendous amount of weapons, including four handguns, two assault rifles, and loads of ammunition were also confiscated. Apart from Pavittar, the others arrested include Karandeep Singh, Pardeep Singh, Dharamvir Singh (aka Minta), Jobanjit Singh, Husandeep Singh, and a few others.

Officials from the Attorney General’s office, the Yuba City Police, and the Sutter County District Attorney’s office made this announcement after a blistering, months-long investigation initiated by several law enforcement agencies. It was found that these groups were allegedly involved in a mass shooting at a Stockton Sikh temple that occurred on August 27, 2022, apart from a similar shooting incident which took place at a Sacramento Sikh temple on March 23, 2021.

Additionally, law enforcement agencies also played an integral role in averting two shootings that were later prevented. As a result of this joint operation, which was executed by agents on Monday at 20 different locations, 41 firearms were seized in total.

Rob Bonta, the Attorney General of California, expressed his gratitude towards the law enforcement agents who worked tirelessly to make this operation successful. He expressed his appreciation while pointing out that no family should ever worry about drive-by shootings of any kind in the areas that their children live in. Through this operation, many guns were confiscated and the gang members related to this case were taken into custody. Jennifer Dupre, who is Sutter County’s District Attorney, also expressed her immense gratitude towards the Department of Justice and the other public safety allies for this successful operation. Furthermore, she expressed her immense appreciation for the time and effort given by all the law enforcement personnel for this investigation.
